Conservation Live!

On Thursday 9th August and Friday 10th August visit Athelstan Museum from 11am-3pm to see conservationists from Wiltshire Conservation Services working on cleaning and preserving coins from the hoard.

This is a great chance to talk with the team about their work on the coins, and the other work they do on many fascinating archaeological finds from throughout the county and the country.

 

 

Open Day at Strawberry Fayre

On Saturday, 14th of July we’ll be holding an open day at the Strawberry Fayre in Crudwell from 10am to 4pm.  This is a wonderful chance to see some of the coins, including ones that have been conserved, and to learn more about the hoard.

This exhibit was curated by the Malmesbury Coin Hoard metal detectorist Tony Mimms and contains a fascinating selection of finds Tony has collected from the local area and during his many years of metal detecting.

 

 

Malmesbury Metal Detecting

An HLF sponsored free talk following the Malmesbury History Society AGM.

The Malmesbury Coin Hoard metal detectorist Tony Mimms will talk about detecting around Malmesbury including a special focus on finding the Malmesbury Coin Hoard.

 

Romans – a free talk by Neil Holbrook

Thursday 16th November at 7:30pm

Neil Holbrook, CEO of Cotswold Archaeology will give a free talk sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund in support of the Malmesbury Coin Hoard project.  Don’t miss this fascinating overview of Romans in our area.

 

 

Marc Allum Antiques Evening

25 April 2017 – Marc Allum from BBC Antiques Roadshow

BBC Antiques Roadshow expert Marc Allum will give an entertaining and informative talk about the world of art and antiques at the Town Hall in Malmesbury.  Marc will bring along some of his personal collection to share with us, and you are invited to bring along your own items for Marc to look over. So have a search around the house for that object you always wanted to know more about. (Please note that Marc will not be valuing objects).

Tickets from the museum are only £10 (including a glass of wine).

This will be a popular fund-raising event for the Malmesbury Coin Hoard project so buy your tickets early.
