Conservation Live!

September 2021

Conservation Live! was fantastically popular with more than 100 people stopping in to see our very own Conservator Kayleigh working on the Malmesbury Coin Hoard coins with equipment brought from her CMAS lab in Chippenham.  The finder of the hoard, Tony Mimms demonstrated his metal detector and displayed a number of other coins he has found in fields nearby and discuss the Portable Antiquity Scheme with visitors.  Other tables included information on the Romans, handling of coins from the hoard, and a fun x-ray game for children.

Display Training

Volunteers had a special all day of display training with Kayleigh Spring from CMAS.  Covering all aspects of museum displays, with lots of opportunity for hands-on experience, it was a fun day for everyone.
